Nursery

Temporary childcare service is available for symposium attendees at a nearby childcare facility jointly operated by RIKEN and other companies. Please send an e-mail to bdr-sympo2023@ml.riken.jp by the deadline if you intend to use the service.

Time Available

8:15 to 18:00 (Extended childcare available until 20:00)
*In principle, please use the nursery only during the symposium hours.

Please come for a parent-child interview at least 30 minutes before the actual childcare begins. Please bring the enrollment sheet (sent after the application is accepted) to the interview.

Capacity and Fees

Age 0 (Up to 2 childeren): 230 yen/30 minutes
Age 1 & 2 (Up to 2 children): 220 yen/30 minutes
Age 3- (Up to 5 children): 170 yen/30 minutes

*Please note that we may not be able to accept children when the capacity is reached.
*Payment must be made in cash in Japanese yen when you pick up your child. Please prepare exact amount with no change.
*If the time is extended, extended time will also be charged.

Request to Parents

- Please check your child's temperature and his/her health at home and or hotel.
- Please wear a mask when dropping off and picking up your child. Disinfect your hands with hand sanitizers at the entrance.
- You may be asked to wait before entering the facility to prevent crowding.
- Please refrain from using the nursery if your child's temperature is over 37.5°C, if your child's temperature is approximately 1°C higher than usual, or if you notice cold-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat, or other symptoms that are different from normal.
- Please follow the policy of RIKEN (Emergency Response Headquarters) regarding the use of the nursery after recovery from fever or cold symptoms.

There will be at least 1 staff member on duty when necessary, who will be able to communicate in English with parents/guardians regarding childcare issues.
