Entry into Japan
As of February 9, 2023:

All travelers and returnees coming from Macau by direct flight will be required to take on-arrival test at the quarantine station and to submit a certificate of negative result of pre-departure COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours prior to departure with or without a vaccination certificate.
[From December 30, 2023]
All travelers and returnees who have stayed in China (except Hong Kong and Macau) within 7 days prior to the entry and all travelers and returnees coming from China (except Hong Kong and Macau) by direct flight will be required to take on-arrival test at the quarantine station. In addition, from January 8, 2023, all travelers and returnees coming from China (except Hong Kong and Macau) by direct flight will be required to submit a certificate of negative result of pre-departure COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours prior to departure with or without a vaccination certificate.
As of September 30, 2022:
[From October 11, 2022]
In principle, all cross-border travelers will be required to provide either a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate (3 doses) of vaccines on the Emergency Use List of World Health Organization (WHO) or a negative COVID-19 test result (conducted within 72 hours before leaving the country of departure). On-arrival test at the quarantine station, self-quarantine in places such as their own residence or accommodations are no longer required. Visa exemption arrangements will also be resumed.
To simplify Japan entry procedures, it is strongly encouraged to use Fast Track, using MySOS Web (online) or the MySOS app. If not, vaccination certificate or a negative COVID-19 test result and questionnaire must be submitted at the quarantine station.

Attendees requiring an entry visa should inquire at their local Japanese embassy or consulate regarding the required visa and documents. Please contact the symposium secretariat for any documents required for your visa application as soon as possible. We advise you to apply for your visa well in advance as the visa application process may take some time depending on factors such as the situation at the local Japanese embassy or consulate and the content of an application.
